On this 31st August 2009, we will celebrate our 52nd Merdeka Day
or “Hari Kebangsaan Malaysia yang ke-52“. The logo for this
Merdeka Day is the 1Malaysia logo with the Jalur Gemilang
background. Hmmm..quite simple and smart. The theme will be
“1Malaysia, Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan“.
This year celebration might not be too grand as previous Hari
Merdeka celebration since we are now being attacked by the
influenzaA (H1N1) virus and also to respect the Ramadhan month.
“Bulan puasa” maaaa, cannot eat and drink also… This time, the
ceremony will be held at Dataran Parlimen and expected to last
around 40 minutes. The number of public visitors also is limited to
8,600 people. In conjuction to that,Jalan Parlimen, the approach road to Parliment House will be closed on that
day from 7.30 am till the cermony ends.
For your info, Hari Merdeka (Independence Day) or Hari Kebangsaan is the national day of Malaysia to
commemorate the indepence of the Federation of Malaya from the British Colonial rule. On 31st August 1957,
Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Malaysia Prime Minister, announced the independence of Tanah
Melayu from British at Stadium Merdeka with the legendary
“MERDEKA!!!! MERDEKA!!! MERDEKA!!!”
